Many games over the past few years have received digital deluxe editions and it needs to stop

Recently, I saw that the new sonic game may have a deluxe edition, so I wanted to discuss why they shouldn't exist. Digital deluxe editions include things that should be included with the base game. DLC is a great way to expand on a game but it shouldn't be used in a way that takes basic features and items away from the base game for no reason. Digital deluxe editions do just that.
One of the more notable offenses in recent years is the Sonic Origins digital deluxe edition. Making "character animations" part of a pack you need to buy is very greedy, there is no reason these should not have been included in the base game. Additional music is another thing that is really puzzling, people can just listen to these tracks online anyway why would they pay to listen to them in game, especially when you can't even do something like swap the level music. Camera controls on the menu islands is beyond words as to why it's not in the base game. It is literally a basic feature. Hopefully, if the new sonic game does have a deluxe version it's not as bad as this one.
As I have gone through, nothing mentioned is really DLC, it's base game content that has been forced into paid DLC in the form of a "deluxe edition". I don't want it to seem like it's just Sonic though many other games and series do this. Bandai Namco do it with many RPG's. For example, they had Tales of Arise and Scarlet Nexus where they offered deluxe versions, that had things such as a clothing set and some in game items. However, those did also include a digital artbook and soundtrack which makes it somewhat worth.
I miss the days where every game had one version to pick up with a complete base game, seeing all these deluxe or ultimate editions does nothing but confuse people and rip people off. I am glad not every company does this and I hope they stay that way.
That's it for this blog, stay connected!
