[News] F-Zero 99 Gets It's First Update!

It hasn't been long since F-Zero 99 came out now and we are already seeing new content for it source:  www.youtube.com/@EdwardFourZERO6 Over on Twitter, Nintendo official accounts have just announced that F-Zero 99 will be receiving an update. This update will include the Queen League. We will be seeing 5 more tracks added to the game as part of this Queen League. One of the mentioned tracks is the Red Canyon 1 stage, though we are unsure of the rest. This update will go live tomorrow (29th of September). It's cool we are getting more for this game, and honestly, I didn't expect anything until like a month later. Red Canyon is a stage I know many fans like for it's difficulty, so it's a good stage to add in as soon as they have. I do wonder if it will just be tracks that are added in future updates or if we will see new cars and customisation options too. We'll see what the next one brings us. That's it for this blog, stay connected!

[Thoughts] Ratchet & Clank Got Me Into Splatoon

You may be thinking.. How? I will answer that in this blog Around the end of 2016 I had been looking for a game like Ratchet & Clank. This was because at the time I didn't have a PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 console but I wanted to play the newer Ratchet & Clank games. It had been a while since I played a Ratchet & Clank game but I remember loving them as a kid. So, to ease the wait of possibly getting a PlayStation console, I wanted to play a game that was some what like Ratchet & Clank.  So, I started looking around online at third person shooter games on the Wii U.  Splatoon was a game I had heard of at the time and one of my friends was playing it actively, but I didn't know anything about it really. I tried the demo on the Wii U eshop and liked the look of the characters but wasn't too into it, though the demo was very basic and only offered the tutorial. A few months later, Splatoon 2 was about to release and they had a splatfest world premiere demo

[News] Kirby & The Amazing Mirror Is Coming To Switch Online!

Another game for switch online is coming soon source:  www.nintendo.co.uk Over on Twitter, Nintendo have just announced that  Kirby & The Amazing Mirror is coming to switch online. This game is a GBA game so it will be available on the GBA app. This does mean you will need the Switch Online Expansion Pack to play it. The update with this game will drop on the 29th of September.  Kirby & The Amazing Mirror follows a journey of four Kirby's and because of this the game naturally had local co-op play. With it being on Nintendo online, it now means you can play the game with online co-op. It's always cool when online co-op is added to the older games so people can easily enjoy them together. It should also be noted that this game is quite a bit different than the other Kirby games. This is because it is more like a metroidvania style game. So, if you like metroidvanias or are a kirby fan, definitely give this game a try. That's it for this blog, stay connected!

[Thoughts] F-Zero 99

F- Zero finally gets a new game, but what do I think as someone who isn't much of a F-Zero fan? source:  twitter.com/NintendoUK When this game was announced during the direct I was interested in giving it a go for sure. My history with f zero essentially is a few games on F-Zero GX and the original F-Zero. I wasn't too interested in the game as I felt it lacked the chaos of games like Mario Kart. Upon having played this new game several times now, I have formed a solid opinion on it. So I want to start of by saying this game is pretty cool. It is very fun and I feel like it has the element of chaos I thought the normal games lacked due to how many players are on the screen. The tracks are pretty cool too with some decent variance to them, Sand Ocean being my favourite. The customisation is a nice part of the game, though I do wish there were a few more default options available. The events are interesting, with my favourite being the team battles. These team battles are actuall

[News] Sonic Superstars Animated Prologue Available To Watch!

Sonic's official YouTube channel has just dropped the prologue animation for sonic superstars source:  www.youtube.com/@SonictheHedgehog Yesterday on Twitter, Sonic The Hedgehog teased that they would be dropping the special prologue animation for Sonic Superstars the following day. The prologue animation has just dropped now on YouTube, for your viewing pleasure. The animation itself is 5 minutes long. You can watch it here . In this, we see all playable characters as well as the three main antagonists of the game. The good guys being heavily featured in the first half, while the bad guys heavily featured in the second half. There were a few cool moments in this and the animation was well done as always. The new villain character, Trip,  seems to not be all bad, as they are seen to have a liking for nature. It will be interesting to see how this trait influences Trip's decisions in the game. Eggman, during this animation, sees a mural with what seems to be more characters like

[Thoughts] State Of Play 14/09/23

Sony gives us... something... I guess source:  www.youtube.com/@PlayStation This State of play was around 27 minutes long and showed off a decent amount of games. Most of these games being ones coming out this year or being updated this year. As for what was shown/revealed here is a list:   - Baby Steps - Roblox - Ghostbusters Rise Of The Ghost Lord - Resident Evil 4 VR Mode - Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways (DLC) - Avatar Frontiers of Pandora - Ghost Runner II - Deep Earth Collection (Covers) - HellDivers II - Spider-Man 2 - Tales Of Arise - Beyond The Dawn - Honkai Star Rail - FoamStars - FF VII Rebirth For this show I didn't expect too much and my low expectations were about matched. I'm sure fans of final fantasy are really excited for the new trailer for the next part of the FF7 series. Even though I am personally not interested in it the game it does look cool. It was nice to see the Resident Evil 4 separate ways dlc like I had expected and the VR is good as resident evil g

[Thoughts] Nintendo Direct 14/09/23

A generally bland direct with a few bursts of flavour source:  www.youtube.com/@NintendoUK This direct provided updates for many upcoming games, while also giving us more information about games that are coming early next year. Other news, not about games, was present too. [News] Sony Announces A State Of Play!

Sony have just announced a new showcase source:  twitter.com/PlayStation Over on Twitter, PlayStation have just announced a new state of play is coming tomorrow, September 14th. This state of play starts @ 10pm BST, with no word on how long it is. Sony have said we can expect to see indie and third party titles that come from around the world. With first party out of the picture there are a few games I have in mind for what will be shown. Alan Wake and Alone in the Dark are coming very soon so will most likely be featured. Avatar may get some more shown of it too since that is coming in December. The rumoured Resident Evil 4 dlc and the Cyberpunk dlc could be what we see in terms of additional content to current games. There are a few other games such as the Metal Gear Solid 3 and Silent Hill 2 remakes that could have a chance of appearing, but it's not too likely.  What I personally would like from this is a release date for Stellar Blade, though that most likely won't happen

[News] A New Nintendo Direct Has Been Announced!

Nintendo has just let us know when the next direct is airing source:  twitter.com/NintendoUK Over on Twitter, Nintendo have just posted about a new Nintendo Direct. This direct will be airing tomorrow,  September 14th, @ 3pm BST . Nintendo have stated that this direct will be 40 minutes long . The focus for this direct is said to be titles coming this winter. You will be able to watch this direct, as always, on Nintendo's selection of official YouTube channels. With the direct being 40 minutes long we can expect quite a decent amount of games and updates being shown. We most likely will see more on Super Mario RPG, the Princess Peach game, Luigi's mansion 2 HD, and Detective Pikachu. The final wave of the Mario Kart 8 dlc and some more games for the online apps is pretty much a given too. Super Mario Bros. Wonder probably won't be featured much if at all due to it having it's own direct recently. I think we can also expect some cool new announcements too. There has been

[News] New Sonic Frontiers Final Update Trailer!

A new trailer for the final update of the game has been uploaded source:  www.youtube.com/@SonictheHedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog's official YouTube channel has just uploaded a new trailer for the final update of Sonic Frontiers. This trailer focuses on the story of the update.  In this video, there are some interesting things that are said, which could have certain implications. Let's go through these. What Knuckles says during the trailer seems to imply that each character will have their own island to conquer. This means we could be getting 3 new islands. This is really cool, even if they are smaller islands. There is also the chance that they will reuse islands from the main game but with a few layout changes. The second option definitely seems more reasonable and I would be fine with that too.  During tails' segment, he mentions becoming cyber corrupted. This could possibly imply that each character will have their own cyberspace levels too. Hopefully, these cyberspace st

[Thoughts] Dynamic Music In Games Is So Good!

Dynamic music is such a good design choice and I always appreciate when a game uses it source:  wallhaven.cc Dynamic music can be used in so many ways to enhance a game experience. There are several games I have played that have used dynamic music. In this blog I will discuss some of the coolest uses of dynamic music in games I have played. Fire Emblem is the game I want to mention first. This is one of the games my mind immediately goes to when I think of dynamic music. The way fire emblem does dynamic music is by having map and battle music. Most of the time, the battle music is a more intense version of the map music, with a more full and loud arrangement going on. The battle music is like this to get the player pumped up as it makes the moment feel more intense. While the map music being more simple and chill makes sense as it's the decision making state. The map music is probably also this way as to not distract the player too much from the critical decisions they need to make

[News] September's Splatfest Now On!

Pick your team and splat it out! Source: twitter.com/NintendoEurope Another Splatfest is upon us. This Splatfest, about which member of deep cut would be the best leader, was announced in late august on Twitter. The choices for this Splatfest are, Shiver, Frye and Big man. As usual, this event runs for two full days (9th @ 1am - 11th @ 1am), with the tri colour battles starting on the second day. This Splatfest is the first anniversary splat fest, because of this many small additions have been made for this event. For this fest there's a special match intro, special winning and loosing music (dependant on the team you pick) and an increase to the amount of 10x battles you will encounter.  The tri-colour stage this time is actually random. Every previous tri colour stage will be in this random selection. So, if you missed out on one of the previous tri colour stages, which was very easy to in the first few splat fests due to how rare tri colour matches were, then you will be able

[News] New Halloween Themed Items On The Pokémon Center Store!

The Pokémon Company  have just informed us that they are adding a bunch of stuff to their Halloween line up  source:  www.pokemoncenter.com Over on Twitter, Pokémon UK have just tweeted about the new additions to their Halloween merch. There are all types of merchandise included in this new batch. Some of the new items include shirts, plushies, signs and art pieces.  The plushies are definitely the stand out merch in this batch. These new plushies are for Pikachu, Fuecoco, Greavard and Gengar. Two of these are from the latest Pokémon games which is pretty cool. The shirts also look great too, the Trevenant one is my personal favourite.  These Halloween themed items are all available to order right now, so if you are wanting to get something ready for Halloween, take a look yourself and see if you like anything. You can visit the Halloween page of the Pokémon Center store here. That's  it for this blog, stay connected!

[News] More Games Available For Nintendo Online Members!

Nintendo has revealed the next games arriving for membership owners source:  twitter.com/NintendoUK Over on X, Nintendo have announced four games that are now available to play through the online apps. The line up includes Kirby's Star Stacker (NES app) , Joy Mech Fight (SNES app) ,  Downtown Nekketsu March Super-Awesome Field Day! (SNES app) and Quest for Camelot (Game Boy app) . Members of both the standard and expansion pass tiers can enjoy these games. 3 of these games are actually games that have never been released outside of Japan so that is kind of cool, however, it's not like any of them are really notable. Out of the four games, the Kirby game could be a fun little game you play once, but there isn't much value here beyond that. Nintendo need to start adding a few more of the heavy hitters that are missing to these apps. I really wonder when they will add some of the original Pokémon games, who knows if they even will. That's it for this blog, stay connected!

[News] New Nintendo Switch Bundles!

Three more bundles for Nintendo Switch systems are coming soon source:  twitter.com/NintendoUK Over on Twitter, Nintendo have just revealed three new bundles for Nintendo Switch systems. On top of this, a 3 month Nintendo online membership is also included in this bundle. source: twitter.com/NintendoUK The other two bundles are Nintendo Switch Lite bundles. Both of them include Animal Crossing pre installed as the bundle game. While these bundles don't give you anything extra like an online membership, they include a nice Animal Crossing design on the console itself. These bundles will be available from the 20th of October. The price for them is currently unknown.  That's it for this blog, stay connected!

[Thoughts] Could We See DLC Or A Companion Game For God Of War: Ragnarök?

Let's think about what could come next from the God Of War team source:  manualdosgames.com It has been quite frequently mentioned on X recently that Santa Monica are currently developing something tied to God Of War. There has also been very strong leads such as Santa Monica hiring combat designers specially with knowledge of the recent God Of War games. God Of War: Ragnarök came out last November, so maybe a year later (this November) could be when we see what the developers have been cooking up. I am personally not 100% sold, but have some ideas were it could go if true, I will go into these below.  ~ Standard Expansion DLC ~ This would be similar to Horizon forbidden west. Like Horizon Forbidden West, the dlc would add directly to the God of War: Ragnarök game. We could see the addition of a new area to the game and an accompanying story. This new area could be something to do with were Atreus goes at the end of the game. This would probably offer around 5-10 hours of gameplay

[News] September 2023's Big Run Now on!

Defend Splatsville as another Big Run event is underway in Splatoon 3 source :  twitter.com/NintendoUK The latest Big Run event is now upon us. This time the Salmonids have invaded Um'ami ruins. This invasion will take place from the 2nd of September @ 1am till the 4th of September @ 1am . The reward this time is a trophy of the Grizzco helicopter. As usual there is a green trophy for participation with the chance to earn a bronze, silver or gold one too depending on your score. The amount you need to get gold is never really known before hand, but usually getting above a score of 190 should get you it. It should also be noted that, Big Run is a good way to earn scales to spend in the shop, as you will be receiving double the amount of scales during this event. So, make sure to try and take out as many bosses as you can. That's it for this blog, stay connected!
