[Thoughts] The Nintendo Switch Online App Should Have Direct Messages

There have been many times that I wished this was a feature of the app source:  www.nintendo.com At the moment the Nintendo Switch Online app really needs an upgrade. Nintendo want you to use this to communicate with friends you make on switch, but they made it very hard to do so. The only form of chat you can do is a voice chat, which is something not everyone is comfortable with. This is especially the case when it's the first real interaction you will have with the other person. What's even worse is the voice chat thing is limited to specific games. Reports have also been made on how bad the chat is with it constantly dropping in and out. This makes this only way of communication pretty useless. If the Nintendo Switch Online app had some type of direct message system, something akin to discord, then this issue could be solved instantly. To make it safe, they could make it so image attachment options are not available. As well as this, the option to receive messages should be

[News] Latest Splatfest Announced!

Nintendo has just revealed August's splatfest theme source:  twitter.com/NintendoUK Over on twitter, Nintendo has just posted the details of the next splatfest for Splatoon 3. This time it is all about what you value most. The three options being, money (Shiver), fame (Frye) or love (Big man). The splatfest will be available from Saturday the 12th of August @ 1 am until Monday the 14th of August @ 1 am .  I am really not sure if there is a favourite here, it could go any way in terms of voting. Well, I say any way, but let's be real no one is going to pick fame really, apart from Frye supporters. We will see nearer the time when polls have come out which is the favourite out of money and love.  That's it for this blog, stay connected!

[News] Nintendo Switch Online Gameboy App Gets An Update!

Two games have been added to it's  line-up source:  www.youtube.com/@NintendoUK As of today owners of Nintendo Switch online can access two new additions on the Gameboy app. The two games are The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages. These games released as a duo of games, kind of like how Pokémon games are. However, unlike Pokémon, this duo of games have a lot more different between versions. In fact, they are very different with different locations and stories. The most important thing to know is that, seasons is more focused on action while ages is more focused on puzzles. As well as this, seasons main mechanic is changing the season, while ages main mechanic is time travel. These two are the games I have personally been waiting for to be added to the Gameboy app. I haven't played ages yet and never finished seasons, so this will be a great time for me to fully experience these games. That's it for this blog, stay connected!

[Thoughts] Why I Buy Physical Games

There are many reasons why I always buy physical, at least, when I can source:  www.backloggd.com [ Introduction ] As time has gone on, it has become more clear that companies are starting to lose interest in having physical copies of games. I wouldn't say it's at a level where it's an issue yet, but five years from now I don't think I could say the same. Physical games are most obviously good for video game preservation. Though, today I will be sharing some of my own reasons why I buy physical games. ~ Cost ~ I am really not sure why but most of the time games are just straight up the same price or even cheaper if you buy physical copies. You would think because the game has to be manufactured they would need to increase the price in comparison to the digital version but this is not the case. As it stands, the standard launch price for a big Nintendo title for example is £50, but on many sites you can find those games for £40-45. Second hand games are another thing tha

[Review] God of War: Ragnarök

A truly godly experience, with barely any marks to show for the war of the game source:  www.playstation.com ~ Intro ~ God of War Ragnarök is the sequel to 2018's God of War. It is a 3rd person action game, made by Santa Monica. It was released on November 9th 2022 for PS4 and PS5. As I have become a God of War fan, I decided to pick this game up very soon after I played the first in this  duology. This allowed me to have the previous game fresh in my memory and compare them more easily. After spending a lot of time with the game I have now solidified my opinion on it. ~ Positives ~ The positives of this game are much like the first. Though there are also a few more things that this game does the other didn't. As well as this, it builds on the strengths of the previous game. To start with the narrative is really well written. As the story went on, I constantly found myself wanting to find out what would happen next. There were several times were I just sat back and thought abou

[News] Sonic Superstars opening animation uploaded!

The official Sonic YouTube channel has just uploaded the intro animation for the game source:  www.youtube.com/@SonictheHedgehog Sonic Superstars is the next game in the Sonic series. The game is scheduled to release soon (autumn 2023), though we still don't know the exact date yet. Sadly, there is no update on that front but we have been treated to the intro animation for the game.  This animation looks as good as the other sonic animations we have gotten in recent times. All the playable characters are featured in this one as well as one of Sonic's new abilities, being the one were he makes a bunch of clones. The villains can all be seen together near the end too.  Something quite interesting in this animation is that, there is a moment where it's a panned out shot of the islands and you can see certain locations. These appear to be some of the levels. The bottom two levels we have seen in previews, but the carnival, chemical plant type level, the sandy level and the temp

[News] July's splatfest now on!

Pick your team and splat it out! Source: twitter.com/SplatoonJP Another splatfest is upon us. This ice cream themed splatfest was announced in the recent Nintendo direct. The choices for this splatfest are, vanilla, strawberry and mint chocolate chip. As usual, this event runs for two full days, with the tri colour battles starting on the second day. While there is no special stage for this splatfest players will get to play on the recently added barnicle and dime with it's altered tri colour lay out. The layout seems like it will be pretty good which is nice, others on twitter have also stated they think it will be a good stage.  From looking at polls on Twitter and YouTube, I think it's safe to say vanilla is the most popular, then mint choc chip, then least popular is strawberry. Vanilla being number one was expected and make sense. I will be picking vanilla myself, so hopefully there isn't too many mirror matches. Make sure to use those conch shells before the splatfe

This wave of new merch is pretty big, featuring sweatshirts, t-shirts and posters. The shirts each feature one trainer with their signature Pokémon, whereas the posters come in packs of 6. The trainers featured in this wave are as follows: - Serena - Piers - Raihan - May - Volkner - Leon - Gloria - Nessa - Allister - Erika - Marnie - Bea As you can see there is quite a lot of gen 8 in this wave. [Thoughts] Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass wave 5

Wave 5 of the Booster Course Pass has released today so let's talk about it source:  www.nintendo.co.uk Now that I have played the tracks I can give a solid opinion on this wave of DLC. There are things I like quite a bit about this wave but others not so much. The standout tracks are the new squeaky clean sprint and Vancouver velocity for sure. Squeaky clean sprint is really creative and I think it is my second favourite of the new tracks we have gotten in the DLC. The part where you go down the bathtubs drain is super fun. While Vancouver is probably my second favourite tour track added in after Singapore speedway. I liked a lot of the cool little unique things about it like the ice skating arena you go through. Had a bit more going for it than most tour tracks. Athens was also fun, being quite a unique tour track, though the visuals do hold it back a little. Though it definitely deserves a mention.  However, as for some things I didn't like, I don't like what they did wi

[Review] God of War (2018)

A near godly experience made slightly mortal by one glaring issue source:  www.playstation.com ~ Intro ~ God of War (2018) is a 3rd person action game made by Santa Monica Studio. The game is currently available on both PS4 and PC. This title is sort of a reboot of the series with it taking a different direction from the traditional hack and slash formula of the original God of War games. I haven't played any of the other God of War games so this has been my introduction into the series. I have wanted try this series for a while, as I have seen good things about it. So, starting with this reboot felt like a great entry point. With that said though, let's get into my thoughts. ~ Positives ~ let's go over the positives first. To start with, the story of the game is good. This game's story is all about fulfilling a last wish, though there are many road blocks the main characters must face along the way. As I was playing I found myself intrigued to find out what would happe

[Guide] Best places to pre order Pikmin 4 (UK)

Pikmin 4 is less than a month away so let's look at the best places to pre order it 1. Nintendo Store UK source:  twitter.com/NintendoStoreUK Pikmin 4 on Nintendo's UK store costs 49.99. [Thoughts] How I would fix Nintendo online's expansion pack

The expansion pack for Nintendo's online subscription is quite lack lustre as it stands source: www.nintendo.co.uk Ever since Nintendo has started making people pay for online I have been a member of the subscription. This is because of games such as Splatoon and Smash bros. Over the years Nintendo has added more to the normal subscription with the addition of select NES, SNES and Game boy games being playable on downloadable apps. These were interesting at first but with them releasing games very sparsely I quickly lost interest in that aspect of it. So, again, I just simply stayed subscribed to play my games online.  In 2021 Nintendo decided to introduce a new tier to the online subscription called the "Expansion Pack". This new tier allowed you to gain access to some N64 games and the Animal Crossing DLC. While this is a step up in offerings, this pack costs around double the normal subscription just for a few N64 games and the Animal Crossing DLC. Since 2021 Nintendo
