Wave 5 of the Booster Course Pass has released today so let's talk about it
Now that I have played the tracks I can give a solid opinion on this wave of DLC. There are things I like quite a bit about this wave but others not so much.
The standout tracks are the new squeaky clean sprint and Vancouver velocity for sure. Squeaky clean sprint is really creative and I think it is my second favourite of the new tracks we have gotten in the DLC. The part where you go down the bathtubs drain is super fun. While Vancouver is probably my second favourite tour track added in after Singapore speedway. I liked a lot of the cool little unique things about it like the ice skating arena you go through. Had a bit more going for it than most tour tracks. Athens was also fun, being quite a unique tour track, though the visuals do hold it back a little. Though it definitely deserves a mention.
However, as for some things I didn't like, I don't like what they did with koopa cape. The lasers at the end where a huge part of the stages identity to me removing them just makes the tubes in the water a bit boring. At least the rest of the track is intact though. Sunset heights is a huge snooze fest. It is such a bland stage and I am not a fan of the music either. Riverside park was such an improvement over the original GBA stage I expected the same for this one but no that didn't happen. The characters are another thing I disliked. 3 more Mario characters is a boring move. Characters like funky kong, diddy kong and R.O.B should have been added. There are only two slots now which means one will have to stay out of the game sadly.
All the other stages I haven't mentioned I thought were typically fine. In fact, Athens could have been a highlight if it wasn't for the bad models and textures used in the track.
With that said, hopefully, the DLC can go out with a bang. This was a good wave overall, but I am thankful it is not the grand finale.
That's it for this blog, stay connected!
