[Thoughts] F-Zero 99

F- Zero finally gets a new game, but what do I think as someone who isn't much of a F-Zero fan?

When this game was announced during the direct I was interested in giving it a go for sure. My history with f zero essentially is a few games on F-Zero GX and the original F-Zero. I wasn't too interested in the game as I felt it lacked the chaos of games like Mario Kart. Upon having played this new game several times now, I have formed a solid opinion on it.

So I want to start of by saying this game is pretty cool. It is very fun and I feel like it has the element of chaos I thought the normal games lacked due to how many players are on the screen. The tracks are pretty cool too with some decent variance to them, Sand Ocean being my favourite. The customisation is a nice part of the game, though I do wish there were a few more default options available. The events are interesting, with my favourite being the team battles. These team battles are actually my favourite mode in the game. It's a bit sad that those aren't available to play all the time though, but they do show up a fair amount so it's nothing too annoying.

Tetris 99 I think still has this beat for my favourite free Nintendo online game, though it could change as time goes on. The main reason I liked Tetris 99 was because of the collabs it had with other games. I don't think we will see anything like that in F zero 99 sadly. However, I do like the gameplay of F zero 99 more than Tetris 99. Tetris 99 was supported for a very long time so we'll see if F-Zero 99 gets the same amount of support, I don't think it will but we'll see.

Overall, I would definitely recommend F zero 99, even for non fans of the series, it's quite fun. With it being free as well you can't go wrong. It's not going to be a game I play often personally, but I will play whenever I feel like it or new content appears for sure.

That's it for this blog, stay connected!

[News] New "Hype trailer" for Summer Game Fest goes live

Summer Game Fest gets new video source : twitter.com/summergamefest Summer Game Fest hosted by Geoff Keighley will be live this Thursday, June 8th as announced a few days ago. The event will be streamed everywhere @  3pm ET / Noon PT / 9pm CEST.  Currently, other than a showing for the recently revealed Mortal Kombat remake, there are no details as to what to expect from the show. However, in a follow up tweet to the video post, Geoff states we will find out soon. In that same reply he also says what you see in the video is not indicative of what we will or won't see. So it serves as just a little mind refresher for some of the new games this year. Link to the video can be found here  SGF video I will be watching this event, but I will have my expectations set very low. Previous summer game fests have not been that interesting so I expect this one to follow suit. Though, with E3 not being a thing anymore offici...

[News] Another game comes to Nintendo Switch Online!

Another game is now available for Nintendo Switch Online members   source:  twitter.com/NintendoAmerica Over on X (Twitter), Nintendo has announced that  another game is coming to Nintendo Switch Online. This includes 1 GBA game. The GBA game included in this update is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team. The GBA app does require the expansion pass tier so if you have it you can enjoy this game. This game will be available from August 9th. For more information on the game click this link: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team I haven't played Red Rescue Team, but I have played Blue Rescue Team and loved it. They are essentially the same game just Blue Rescue Team was on the DS. Both aren't coming together as we sadly don't have a DS app. I hope people who have the expansion take the time to try this, as the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, while a bit repetitive in gameplay, bring a lot more interesting narratives than mainline Pokemon games.   That's it f...

Fully Charged: Clair Obscur Expedition 33, Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, Shantae and the Seven Sirens, Mario Kart World

Start of a new series! Fully Charged is a series in which I go over games I have recently played. Each instalment will release when I have played 2-4 games, updates or demos. With less time for this blog now, I won't be doing many, if any, full reviews. This series will instead cover the games I have played critically, in a mini-review format. Mario Kart World https://store.nintendo.co.uk This is the game everyone has been playing recently if they got a Switch 2. I want to start off by saying I quite like this game, it feels quite different from 8 in a good way. One of the biggest things I like about the games feel, is the control. Vehicles in this game do not feel as stiff. How could I not mention the wall driving and rail grinding too, those add a lot more depth to tracks and are very fun to do. The new knockout tour is a great addition to the series, I find myself playing these just as much as grand prix's. Free roam is quite fun, there are some cool challenges to do within ...
