[Thoughts] Games I Am Looking Forward To In 2025

2025 is looking decent for me so far

In this blog, I will go through the games I am most looking forward to next year. The excitement level for each game varies and so does how much I know about them. That said, I am intrigued to learn more about each one on this list and see how my opinion changes if it does so. Also, only confirmed 2025 games will be here, so do take that to note. With that said, let's start.

Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga

Source: store.steampowered.com

This game has been out for Japanese audiences for some time now, however, it is now getting officially translated with added voice acting. I am not as much of a fan of competitive games as I used to be, however, since this one includes Ys it has caught my interest. That said, I'm still not sure how much I will play online but there also seems to be a story mode to play in this game which will be cool. I liked Ys Seven and it's cast quite a bit so it'll be nice to see them again. Who knows, maybe this game could get me interested in the Trails series.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition

This time I am going to really try and finish this game as I have attempted many times but shelved it for one reason or another. I'm hoping they add many of the great quality-of-life features Xenoblade has implemented throughout the games. It will be cool to have an active online base while playing the game too which is something I didn't have any of the times I played before. I'm looking forward to the added story they have in this version, would be interesting if they tied X to the mainline games.

Sonic Racing Crosswords

We really don't know anything about this game yet, but I am a fan of all the Sonic racing games. The last one, Team Sonic Racing, was fun but I did hope for some type of updates to the game, instead, we got nothing which was sad. Hopefully, this one launches well and has support for some time after. This one will most likely have a main gameplay gimmick but the name crosswords doesn't really give us much to go off. Possibly it could be stages switching midway through like they can in smash bros ultimate, but that's just a guess. Or it could just mean literally and be a cross-over game.

Pokemon Legends Z-A

Pokemon Legends Arceus is one of, if not my favorite, pokemon games to date. It has its problems, but I really enjoyed my time with it. If The Pokemon Company had learned from that and kept all the good things from Arceus, I think we could be looking at something truly special here. Again, just like the Sonic racing game, we know pretty much nothing about it. It does seem like they are somewhat taking their time with development which is great to see from The Pokemon Company, I really wouldn't mind if it was around winter 2025 when it came out, to be honest.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Source: rpgfan.com

This game is a brand-new IP, but when I saw it and learned about it I became interested. It's an RPG much like the Mario and Luigi RPGs with live elements to the battles. These are my favorite types of traditional RPGs, so I am excited to see where this goes. The characters look okay, though I am not 100% on board with their designs yet, they seem a bit uninteresting for me personally but that could change as I see them more. The enemies are looking great though and the game's premise seems cool. This is a game I would love a demo for but I don't think we'll get one.

~ Closing thoughts ~

2025 has some things for me already but I am hoping for a bit more as it's mostly games that I am more tame about, especially with the lack of info on many of them. The Switch 2 is said to be coming out this year though so we'll be getting a bunch of games from Nintendo to go with that and I am sure there'll be many more surprises around the corner from other developers.

That's it for this blog, stay connected!

[News] New "Hype trailer" for Summer Game Fest goes live

Summer Game Fest gets new video source : twitter.com/summergamefest Summer Game Fest hosted by Geoff Keighley will be live this Thursday, June 8th as announced a few days ago. The event will be streamed everywhere @  3pm ET / Noon PT / 9pm CEST.  Currently, other than a showing for the recently revealed Mortal Kombat remake, there are no details as to what to expect from the show. However, in a follow up tweet to the video post, Geoff states we will find out soon. In that same reply he also says what you see in the video is not indicative of what we will or won't see. So it serves as just a little mind refresher for some of the new games this year. Link to the video can be found here  SGF video I will be watching this event, but I will have my expectations set very low. Previous summer game fests have not been that interesting so I expect this one to follow suit. Though, with E3 not being a thing anymore offici...

[News] Another game comes to Nintendo Switch Online!

Another game is now available for Nintendo Switch Online members   source:  twitter.com/NintendoAmerica Over on X (Twitter), Nintendo has announced that  another game is coming to Nintendo Switch Online. This includes 1 GBA game. The GBA game included in this update is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team. The GBA app does require the expansion pass tier so if you have it you can enjoy this game. This game will be available from August 9th. For more information on the game click this link: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team I haven't played Red Rescue Team, but I have played Blue Rescue Team and loved it. They are essentially the same game just Blue Rescue Team was on the DS. Both aren't coming together as we sadly don't have a DS app. I hope people who have the expansion take the time to try this, as the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, while a bit repetitive in gameplay, bring a lot more interesting narratives than mainline Pokemon games.   That's it f...

[News] Grand Festival Announced! (Splatoon 3)

Nintendo has just announced the last? Splatfest! source:  x.com/NintendoAUNZ Over on X (Twitter), Nintendo has just posted the details of the last? Splatfest for Splatoon 3. It is a very special Splatfest with it being called the "Grand festival". For this, it seems all three idol groups are against each other taking one option each. The question being asked for this is "Which is the most important to you?". The three options are past (Squid Sisters), present (Off the Hook), or future (Deep Cut). The Splatfest will be available for 72 hours rather than the usual 48. It will start  Friday the 13th of September @ 01:00 am until Monday the 16th of September @ 00:59 am .  We don't know much about the fest itself but it's safe to assume it will have all the same things as a special Splatfest and more. In the trailer, we do get to see the three idol groups in special costumes, as well as hear a new collab song between the three idol groups. However, that's pre...
